The role of the Burgermeister at The Cullman Oktoberfest is a long-standing tradition that dates back to the festival's inception. Each year, the community nominates and elects an individual to serve as the Burgermeister, who is subsequently honored and assumes the role of host for the festival's proceedings.
BURGERMEISTER DUTIES
The duties of the Official Cullman Oktoberfest Burgermeister:
After the final selection of the Burgermeister, the Burgermeister will be responsible for participation in ALL events scheduled by Cullman Oktoberfest October 3-5, 2024.
Examples of past Burgermeister events:
- Visit Oktoberfest sponsors
- Attend church dinners (if any)
- Attend Opening Ceremonies on Thursday night, tap kegs, and help with crowning of Miss Oktoberfest.
- Walk in parade leading up to Opening Ceremonies.
- Each night of Oktoberfest mingle and socialize with crowd, help with contests, and get the crowd going.
- Attend as many events as possible throughout the weekend (Senior Day, Opening Ceremony, Weiner Dog Races, Stein-hoisting Contests).
- Mingle with crowd and socialize.
- Wear German Attire when at Oktoberfest.
